Compute-First Networking: Modern Infrastructure for Distributed Machine Learning
主讲人:Dirk Kutscher 教授
香港科技大学
讲座摘要:
Large-scale distributed machine learning systems such as large language models are increasingly hitting performance problems due to the limited scalability of the distributed systems and communication platforms that underpin these systems. This talk introduces the current problems and illustrate the research challenges in designing transport protocols and distributed computing primitives for overcoming them.
主讲人简介:
Prof. Dr. Dirk Kutscher is a professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in Guangzhou, China – HKUST(GZ), where is co-directing the Future Networked Systems Laboratory (FNSL). Throughout his research career, Dirk has been developing innovations for evolving the Internet. His main interests lie in the intersection of distributed computing and networking and in Internet architecture. Recently, Dirk has initiated a new research direction called "Compute-First Networking" towards re-imaging the relationship of networking and computing. He is a member of the Internet Research Steering Group and is leading the research on Information-Centric Networking and Internet Decentralization in the Internet Research Task Force.
